Elements of Art

Grade 4 students inquired into Elements of Art - lines, shapes, form, colour, value, space and texture.

Students viewed a variety of artworks and discussed elements of art.
Some of the guiding questions which will drove the inquire were

• What do you see in this work? 
• What grabs your attention? why? 
• Which elements artists have used to emphasise/focus on a part of the painting? 
• How are the colours in this work affect your mood? or make you feel? 
• Can you tell the material of the object in this painting? How do you know that? 
• What does dimension mean? 
• What is the difference between two-dimension and three-dimension shapes? 
• What do we understand by positive and negative space?
