Animal sculptures

Grade 3 students inquired into various ways of reusing and repurposing paper waste that was created in school.  They explored different techniques of  Papier-mâché. Students got into groups to create animal sculptures using the balloon technique. They worked on their sculptures for several weeks. 

 The project had various steps which included planning their anima sculptures and drafting a drawing of them in their art journals. They then worked in smaller groups to glue paper on balloon and adding limbs to it.

Finally, when the layers of glue and paper were dry students painted them in desired colours.
