RECYCLE ART

Students inquired into different artists' who create art using waste material. They looked at the works of different artists such as Nekchand, Tom Deninger, David Edgar, Sumer Erek, Stuart Hoggarth, Jane Perkins and many more to understand the different waste materials and processes they used to create Art.

Here are some of the samples of their researches on different artists who work discarded material
JANE PERKINS - creates portraits using found material

MICHELLE READER - creates sculptures using wastes

SUMER EREK - creates structures with newspaper

WIM DELVOYE - creates art using  metallic waste and tyers

Junkees inquired into the need and the importance of recycling as an artist. They identified different kinds of waste  which we create in our daily such a soda cans, plastic bottles, batteries, plastic bags, biscuits packets, cereal boxes, chips packets and many more but a kind of waste they saw around them a lot was paper. So, Junkees researched on different ways of recycling paper such as Papier Mache.

PAPIER MACHE

Papier Mache is French for ‘chewed paper’. It is a mixture consisting of paper pieces or pulp, sometimes with textiles, bound with glue, starch, or wallpaper paste.

Junkees went on to try the techniques themselves and created bowls, pen stands trays, dustbins etc using the technique.

MAGIC TIME!

Trash turns into art...

Grade 5 decided to create mosaic with a twist, instead of  using broken pieces of tiles the used soda cans. Students divided themselves in groups and gave themselves different tasks such as segregating the soda cans according to their colours, cutting them into small pieces, making a drawing for the mosaic.
