Experimenting with different Art materials - Grade 3

Ways in which materials behave determine people use them!
Art Junkees looked at different material they use in the Art room and how they can manipulate them to create new effects.

To see where they are, students first decided to experiment with different medium in the art room.
what do we already know?

Art Junkees looked at a variety of art materials such oil pastels, soft pastels, pencils, paints and even pen!
They started with oil pastels - A medium they (thought) knew well!
Art Junkees learnt to scumble, hatch, cross - hatch, make directional brush strokes to create different textures, blend in colours and show the effect of light and shades in their work.

Here are some of the samples of their Landscapes they created using oil pastels

They were introduced to dry pastels to create observational drawings. they learnt how to merge or blend in two colours, create texture and show depth with the medium.

Art Junkeees learnt to draw and shade with pencils. They used 2B,4B and 6B pencil to show gradational tones in their work.

Students went outdoors to put their observations on paper using pen.
