Mural painting - depicting the attributes of AKA learner profile
A visual art
club was introduced as part of the extra curricular activities for residential
students to encourage their creativity and aesthetic sense.
Students of
Grade 7 were the first one to be involved in this activity and they were given
the opportunity to create a mural in the junior school library. Inspired by the
‘Madhubani’ painting style, an art form they were exploring in their art class,
they decided to depict the attributes of the AKA Learner profile. Students
created a blueprint of their idea and cut out templates of each figure which
they traced on the wall before starting to paint.
After the
primary stage of making layouts and drafts, students were finally ready and
excited to paint the huge wall. They gave details and outlined the pencil
drawings with black paint, filled in bright vibrant colours, added designs and
patterns to create a beautiful mural that shows all the 12 attributes of AKA
learner profile.
Students
worked diligently on the task and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. After weeks of
hard work, they finally completed their project.
All the
students and staff of junior school are delighted with the mural which has
brightened the library and added character to the most visited space in Junior
School.
