Autobiographical Surreal portraits

Expression in the Arts is often influenced by personal experiences.

Grade 4 students inquired into Frida Kahlo and the influence of personal experiences and her beliefs on her art.- Students learnt about  Frida Kahlo and her autobiographical works. They dug deeper into Frida Kahlo's works and life to see a connection between the two. They explored her autobiographical works to study the impact of her personal beliefs on her works. 

While inquiring about Frida Kahlo's self-portraits students were given the opportunity to explore concepts like surreal, self-portraits, autobiographical, and symbolism.

Knowledge - Students will acquire knowledge about Frida Kahlo, her life works,  portraits, autobiographical works, symbolism, and surrealism in her work.

Understanding -  Students will understand that people are personal experiences. People create artworks based on beliefs and values. 

Doing/Skills - Students will be able to create an autobiographical work using Frida Kahlo's works as a starting point.
